Crime in Santa Fe

Santa Fe currently has a general crime rate that is well over twice the national average per capita. By the data, this growing problem is a top concern for Santa Feans.

As the Mayor of Santa Fe, I will work with the Santa Fe Police Department to set up proven, successful methods to recruit and hire more police officers. Implement best practices in police operations to get tough on crime, starting with more aggressively enforcing laws that are already on the books concerning theft, pan-handling, animal abuse, loitering and jaywalking. Work with lawmakers and the judiciary to end “catch and release” practices to keep repeat offenders behind bars and off our streets.
